Oh hey, remember that time I didn’t have internet for an entire week because Comcast is the worst company ever? Yeah. Me too. They FINALLY got around to fixing things just now so I’m finally able to get back on here.
Anyway, fall is peeking through the air here in subtle ways: the breeze is a little crisper in the mornings, the high temps are a little less high, and I don’t need to use the air conditioner at night. And I know it’s only a few short weeks until pumpkin spice lattes are back at Starbucks (!! The only time of year I ever go to Starbucks…other coffee shops’ PSLs just don’t compare) and until I will go to Home Depot to stock up on flats of hardy mums, and until I can paint my nails in OPI Ginger Bells! without feeling like a fool. And as I look through my wardrobe I see…bland! The same old sweaters I’ve had for years! Boring shoes! A bag I’m really tired of! And really, not enough autumn colors. For Fall 2010, I’m feeling lots of neutrals as bases, with dark but saturated — think burgundy, burnt orange, forest green, navy blue, mustard, and maroon — accessories to add little pops of color. Lots of drapey rayon and layered knits, and RUFFLES! For the love of god, I am obsessed with this ruffle trend that is happening right now.
I’m really loving the mood boards Lindsey over at Lost & Fawned is doing with Pantone’s Fall 2010 Color Forecast, and that combined with my blah feelings about my own wardrobe has had me internet shopping (during breaks in class when, y’know, I actually have had internet) for the past week. I’ll be doing a few installments of this series over the next few days, each day with a different category of clothing. Today, let’s start at the top with…tops!

1. Caramel Ripple Top, $87.99, Modcloth.com
2. Flower Vendor Top, $78, Anthropologie
3. Deuxhill Cowlneck, $88, Anthropologie
4. Perennial Plot Shirt, $58, Anthropologie
5. Elbow-Sleeve Ruffle Scoopneck, $69.50, Banana Republic
6. Monologue Top, $98, Anthropologie
7. Turning Point Turtleneck, $48, Anthropologie
8. Nightfall Cardigan, $79.99, Modcloth.com
I’ll be back Monday with another mood board for skirts and dresses!
Oh, and P.S., can I just say that I am totally swamped with schoolwork right now, making screenshots and designing webpages for classes and finally freaking learning CSS instead of stumbling my way through it…and I am loving every minute of it? With every new assignment, I’m getting The Feeling that everyone talks about, The Feeling that you know you’ve chosen the right career when your schoolwork/work-work is actually fun and doesn’t feel like work at all. I can’t believe that someday (someday quite soon, even) I’ll be getting paid to do this stuff!
