Thank goodness for daylight savings time. To come home at 5:30pm to a brightly-lit house and hours of daylight left in which to do things — feels like a gift. And this week there is almost-warm rain in between sunny warm days — “weather for the birds”, as my grandma calls it.
I rearranged some furniture and tried to clean up a little around here. I like it a little bit more now. Still, though, we continue to house (rental) hunt.
We’ve realized that settling for less is not the way to go — we know exactly what we want and we’re going to wait until we get exactly that. Home buying is not in the cards for us for a while, so wherever we rent next will be our home for a while. We want to get it right. But it just feels so bleak, sending email after email, making phone call after phone call, seeing house after house, and finding nothing. I found the most gorgeous, perfect house today, but it was listed ages ago, so who knows if it’s still available. Here’s hoping…

Today we went to Jo Ann’s to get fabric for my quilt! I decided to make a summer quilt for our bed, since both of us are tired of the duvet situation. We have our vintage floral bedspread for spring but I wanted an excuse to make something, and plus, it’s nice to be able to switch it up sometimes. I’ve never done this before, but my mom quilted, so I am hoping it will just come naturally. I chose an easy pattern so we’ll see!
That box you see there is the giftbox for my grandma’s digital photo frame that I’m getting her for her birthday. I was thinking to myself on the way to the store that it might be nice to get a pretty box for it and set it inside amidst that decorative paper grass stuff (packed tightly within the box and also within the shipping box, so it doesn’t get ruined in transit) and what do I find next to the cutting counter but the perfect little box? So pretty, and she can use it for keeping cards in or receipts or recipes. Her apartment is about the size of mine so I am totally sympathetic to the need for form and function in everything.
I also ordered the actual frame today — turns out it’s an online only item, but they did a ship to store on it so I didn’t have to pay shipping! It’s set to be here for pickup on the 13th, I can’t wait! And my aunt is supposed to be sending me her photos tonight, I can’t wait to see those either!
I’m so excited to start on my quilt tomorrow. The fabric we got is just gorgeous, and it was 30% off day there so I was able to spring for the expensive stuff and still keep it under $15! I didn’t get the fabric for the border yet, but I will go back with 50% off coupon for that.
P.S. — 365? Not happening. I am just too darn busy. Every day, out the door at 8:30, don’t get home until after 7, then immediately start homework and freelance. Bed at 2 AM if I’m lucky. Repeat, ad nauseam. I’m just a little burnt out, but loving every minute of it.
